Police partner with community

IN what turned out to be a show of force, Malvern SAPS, together with the community neighbourhood watches, security companies and other stakeholders, braved the inclement weather on Thursday, 9 March to drivr through Malvern.

Under the command of Malvern SAPS station commander, Lt/Col Valarine Reddy, the neighbourhood watch group were separated into zones.

With the SAPS members leading the different convoys, the members and patrollers drove through the streets and residential areas of Malvern with flashing blue lights and their blaring sirens.

Malvern SAPS communications officer, W/O Rhadika Marimuthu said the aim of the convoy was to show a partnership and visibility with the show of force by the community.

Malvern community policing forum chairman, Anthony Pillay, said that he was overwhelmed by the show of support by the community and thanked Lt/Col Reddy, Vispol head, Capt Govender, the support head, Capt Koobair and all the SAPS members for their initiative to restore safety in the community.

Reddy said her priority is to always find new strategies and innovations to stay ahead of the criminals.
