School’s fund-raiser a leaping success

IN an effort to raise much-needed funds, Gillitts Primary School hosted a fun morning of games and treats for its learners.

There were more than a dozen fun and exciting rides and parents and supporters gladly donated a few goodies to be sold to help make some extra money for the school.

“Due to the lack of funding from the Department of Education and the financial constraints we are facing, the staff and I brainstormed a way to bring in some extra funds to help the school. If it was not for our fund-raising efforts, or for the support from Kloof Rotary, Kloof Rotary Anns, Cook-Fuller and SSH Bodies and sponsors who donate regularly, we would not be able to pay for our basic essentials such as our utility bills,” said Arti Jadoo, principal of Gillitts Primary School.

“We are blessed on a daily basis and to have people wanting to help a community-based school is so wonderful. If we are unable to use the donated items we will give them to the children and families in need,” said Arti.
