Don’t fall for this con

THIS past Sunday, I was at the Hillcrest Car Wash and while waiting in the queue a young well spoken black boy around 13 or 14 years old approached me with a very sad story.

He said, “Madam, please I don’t want money just food. I live in Molweni township with my granny who only gets a government grant and has to pay R130 a week for our one bedroom shack,” as he called it, he then broke with tears streaming down his face which broke my heart.

I told him I don’t have food as I am here to just to have my car washed and told him I can give him R5 which I found in the side of my car door.

After this child left, the supervisor from the car wash approached me and said please do not give that child money as he smokes drugs in the Hillcrest taxi rank.

I was fuming, I tried to look for him to get my money back but failed.

I wanted to print this letter in the Highway Mail so other people wouldn’t fall for this kid’s sob story.
