The new format, introduced by the Federation of International Hockey to grow the sport, is based on a new international hockey format offering a fast-paced, high-intensity equivalent of the game.
The scholarships include Kearsney (4), Michaelhouse (2), Hilton (4), Maritzburg College (2), Thomas More (2), Curro High School (3) and Westville Boys’ High (1).
The girls won the SPAR KZN School Girls’ Hockey Tournament, making it a third win.
The older generation also got a chance to get back onto the field in the dad’s match.
Twenty-six Kearsney College players were selected for the provincial hockey teams.

Sixteen schools from around the country gathered at St Mary’s DSG in Kloof to compete for the prestigious tourney title.
The school thanked the Sharks and KZN touch rugby for giving them the opportunity.
Maritzburg College beat Kearsney College in cricket and basketball at the weekend.
Westville’s first team led the way on a cricketing day in which the results were overwhelming in Westville’s favour. They won 18 with Glenwood winning only two of the 20 games played.
The game benefited LIV Village and the Kearsney College Bursary Fund.
