KEARSNEY College faced off against Glenwood at the weekend in cricket, basketball and squash.

In cricket, Glenwood won the toss and elected to bat first on a slow and low wicket. They scored 137 for 9 wickets in 50 overs, with Robbie Koening taking 3 for 23. Kearsney started well with Mitch Garvie scoring 39 runs.

As the wicket got more difficult to bat on, Kearsney boys struggled and were eventually bowled out for 107 runs in the 44th over.

The final score was Glenwood 1st X1 – 137/9 (Koenig 3/23), Kearsney 1st X1 – 107 all out (Garvie 39).

Kearsney hosted Glenwood in the first basketball fixture of the season, in one of the few sports played on Saturday due to the weather.

The Kearsney team started well and scored easily, continuing in that vein for the duration of the game.

Although it wasn’t a polished performance, Kearsney managed to easily win their first fixture of the season, 65-16. Stand out performances came from Kuhle Bophela and Levi Donjeany.

Kearsney’s 1st squash team enjoyed a narrow victory over their hosts, Glenwood, on Friday afternoon.

The 1st team won 5-3 after eight closely contested matches.

The 2nd team did well to win 5-0.
