Kearsney’s 1st hockey team beat St Stithians 3-0

KEARSNEY College played St Stithians on Saturday morning as part of the annual sports fixtures between the two schools. Kearsney was focused and started the game well, going 2-0 up in the first half, with goals from Jeremy Foord and David Hudson.

St Stithians gave a strong performance in the second half, where they created many scoring opportunities which Kearsney were able to keep out.

Against the run of play the visitors were able to find a third goal through Kyle Koenig, with about five minutes to play. Kearsney won the fixture 3-0.

Hockey provincial selections


Kearsney hockey players have done well in the provincial selections, with 26 players making the various age group teams. They are:

KZN Coastal U18A: Keanan Naidoo, Guy Morgan, Jeremy Foord, Liam Maguire, Luke de Vlieg

KZN Coastal U18B: Nicholas de Beer, Kyle Koenig, Steven Conway,

KZN Coastal U18 Impis: Benjamin Proctor

KZN Coastal U16A: Chase Kelly, David Hudson, Luyanda Chiliza

KZN Coastal U16B: James Maguire, Joshua Barrett

KZN Coastal U16 Warriors: Cameron Nel, Hayden de Kock, Thomas Constable

KZN U14: Calvin Davis, Menzi Mhlangu, Gontse Machaba

KZN Coastal U14A: Tim Dladla, Rourke Palmer, Campbell Duckworth, Nteko Khoza

KZN Coastal U14B: Matthew Foord, Ruben Rheeder (non-travelling reserve).

Kearsney’s 1st XI travelled to Pretoria to play Pretoria Boys High School’s 1st XI on Friday evening. It was a tough game for the visitors who lost the match 4-3.
