uShaka searches for new entertainers

USHAKA Marine World’s competition, ‘uShaka Search For The Stars’ with the Department of Arts and Culture is searching for KwaZulu-Natal’s new emerging talents to add to the entertainment line-up offered around the park.

The judges are looking for a minimum of three dancers specialising in one or more of the various dance styles, from pantsula, contemporary, local, international, Indian, Tswana, tin dancers, football dancers, hip hop dancers, Isigekle, kwaito dancers, Ingoma yamantombazane, uShameni and gumboot.

Acapella, wedding, hip hop, kwaito and afro gospel singers are also encouraged to enter (four group members or more), as well as professional bands.

Judges will also be searching for those with special acts, such as mime artists, circus performers, buskers, magicians and the likes.

Interested members are invited to audition across the province on Sunday, 17 September 2017 at Winston Churchill in Pietermaritzburg (Southern Region) or

Saturday, 23 September and Sunday, 24 September 2017 at uShaka Marine World in Durban (Eastern Region).

Contestants who succeed at the auditions will be selected to go to the finals on Saturday, 7 October 2017 at uShaka Marine World. They will also be competing with other district finalists for a one year contract to perform at uShaka Marine World.

“uShaka has seen more than 15 000 talented performers auditioning over the past 10 years and we have created jobs for over 4 000 artists. We look forward to seeing more talented performers share their magic with our guests,” said CEO Stella Khumalo.
