story-telling champ.

WESTVILLE Senior Primary School is proud of its Grade 5 learner, Zahra Dhooma, who was awarded first place at a storytelling competition hosted by eThekwini Municipal Library Services.

This is a particularly fine achievement as Zahra had already won the initial round, at which she represented Westville Public Library, and then went on to compete against the winners from the other districts.

Zahra told the classic story of The Jungle Book in Afrikaans, which is her second language, and was the overall winner in the Afrikaans category at this prestigious event.

Zahra is a conscientious learner who excels at academics.

On the sportsfield, Zahra plays netball and hockey. She is also a good swimmer, and is a member of the school’s A swimming team.

Her favourite stroke is the butterfly.

Zahra enjoys arts and crafts such as mosaics and pottery, and she likes to participate in the school’s annual Speech and Drama Festival.

She has a pet tortoise named Speedy, and her role model is Chad le Clos.
