ON a hot Friday afternoon, Waterfall College and Waterfall Preparatory learners laced up to take part in the annual Walkathon on their campus.

It was the first year that Waterfall Preparatory School took part in the event which has become a highlight of the Waterfall College year.

The learners are given two hours to complete as many laps as possible along the 1km route around the school campus and across the new school field.

“There were a few learners who took up the challenge and treated the Walkathon like a cross-country race! The event was great fun and well supported by learners, teachers and parents alike,” said the Waterfall Schools’ marketing manager, Rikki Thoresson.

Waterfall College’s principal, Jeanette van der Merwe, said, “I am so encouraged by the enthusiastic support from students, parents and teachers, as we have managed to raise a record R22 000 from the Walkathon this year. Well done to our top achievers!”
