eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede will host an Interfaith Prayer Day which is aimed at seeking divine intervention for the social ills currently facing the province of KwaZulu-Natal.

In a statement released by the city’s communications department, media were also invited to participate in the day of prayer.

“Religious leaders from various faith organisations will lead in prayer and give words of encouragement and support,” said eThekwini Municipality’s Mandla Nsele.

“The Prayer Day will focus on prayer for religious and political tolerance, repentance and love, restoration of ubuntu and peaceful coexistence amongst citizens,” he added.

The event which will take place at noon on Friday, June 22, 2018, in the City Hall’s Main Auditorium is in response to a call by the province’s Premier, Willies Mchunu who has asked for all municipalities within KwaZulu-Natal to hold the prayers after the recent scourge in killings, women and child abuse, crime and other social ills.

To attend or enquire about the prayer day, RSVP to Vuyo Ndlovu on 031 311 4838 or email him on [email protected]
